Ryan is gearing up for our holiday and can get
a bit regimented about his workouts and diet
he follows the typical chicken and broccoli rule
that a lot of fitness people do (not me!)
They seem to live on chicken and broccoli
which is usually steamed and divided into tubs
to last throughout the day
Now, I do the cooking at home, I’m not a big fan
of either so at the weekend I came up with a couple
different ways to cook it so that
1 you still get all the nutrients
2 it tastes good and not bland
and I will share them with you today
but first, why chicken and broccoli?
well chicken is a lean protein
and broccoli is a superfood carbohydrate
and together, with a little oil they make a balanced
meal for someone looking to drop bodyfat
Roasted
My favourite!
Roast a chicken as normal, when it’s ready take it
out to cool and place broccoli florets over half a roasting
pan and carrots cut into sticks over the other half.
Sprinkle some chopped garlic and olive oil over the
veggies and roast for 20-30 minutes
They should be ready by the time the chicken has cooled
and been carved – serve!
Stir Fry
cut chicken breasts into thin strips and sir fry until white
meanwhile blanch the broccoli and let it cool
add the broccoli to the chicken with some chopped red
chillies, garlic, soy sauce and chopped cashews
stir fry for a few more mins – serve!
Both recipes are dead easy to make
and you don’t have to be a body builder to enjoy them
just slot them into your week
a good soup would be nice too, if anyone has a recipe?

p.s. after yesterdays email I’m thinking of getting a smoking cessation person in at the studio if anyone is interested? Nearly all of my clients are non smokers but I think it might be an idea as a drop in?
