I just realised last night that the Studio is

now 6 years old – officially!

I took on the space January 2010 but it

was torn apart and rebuilt. I had 2 walls

taken down to let in light and fresh air

(It was an old carpark)

A ceiling was built, walls sheeted and

plastered, everything painted and last

but not least a wooden floor laid down

I signed the lease May 15th and I opened

for business in the last week in May so

that means it’s 6 years old this week

Ok, If you want to eat more without

putting on weight or you would like to

lose weight without changing what you

are eating (by much)

Exercise can do it for you

In fact most people who exercise use it

as a method of weight control

I’m not talking about pigging out on junk

food three times a day, there are limits to

what you can eat versus training

but if you want to want to eat all of the

foods that you enjoy and not worry about

your weight? then exercise can allow you

an extra 10-30% of eating

Without getting into calories too much

although we can use them as a base (not

exact figures) let’s have a look at exercise

and how many extra calories it can give you

Walking is one of the lowest but if you can

go some distance or go hill walking you

will get better results

90-200 calories per hr

Running is more vigorous and you will

cover more miles in an hour.

Up to 600 calories per hr

Weight Training burns around 500

calories per hr but will continue to burn

more over the following 24-48 hour period

Aerobic Training come in at 500 calories

but unlikely to burn too many afterwards

Interval Training, Circuit Training

and HIIT lie somewhere between the

above depending on what you are doing

All of this depends on how fit you are at

the moment, how much bodyfat you have,

your age, occupation, your diet, the effort

you put in…

That’s why I don’t like working with terms

of calories, it can be a little trial and error

but the fact is, exercise will allow you to eat

more or help you lose weight.

Overall the calories burned equal a bar of

chocolate or a cake which might not seem

like much but adding them up over a week

can significantly help you through the

weekend 🙂

It’s the first of June next week, almost half

of the way through the year. If you want to

burn some extra calories and eat more?

Have a look at fit strong females or
