I know! I’ve not been consistent but I get

times where I just can’t write about

However, one of my clients turned up

yesterday with a strained achilles and it

gave me some inspiration to write today

He strained it running at the weekend, it’s

a common running injury and although I

had a planned leg workout for him, I was

secretly pleased as I love creating new

workouts off the cuff

So I quickly write up a new workout on the

board, all upper body and a mixture of

kettlebells and bodyweight

It was a good thing, we’ve been focusing on

legs a lot recently, his goal was to squat his

bodyweight which he has achieved now and

then he hurt his back so we’ve been looking

at that and upper body was needing some

We tightened up his technique, had to do

a mini refresher teaching session on some

of the kettlebell moves and there were some

new exercises he hadn’t done before so I

taught him them too

The result was that we both had a great

I decided to leave the workout on the board

for the guys coming in that evening to see

how they got on, it had been a while since

they did an hour of upper body

and when I left with Cat at the end of the

night, she said she couldn’t lift her arm to

wave to Ryan in the car, so I gave her a hand,

lifting it for her

she did use a 16kg kettlebell (her choice!)

My clients know if they have an injury, they

should still turn up, it’s easy to work around

and it creates an opportunity to work on

something else

Hurt your arm or shoulder? wear a

backpack with some weights on it and work

your legs

Muscles sore from a previous weights

session? Do some bodyweight cardio type

interval training

Hurt your leg? Upper body and core

Or do a yoga session or a power walk, you

can still use your allocated workout time

but switch it to something else

My favourite? The night Garry turned up

sore from MMA the night before ‘don’t

do my legs, core or biceps!’ that left us

with back and triceps but we managed to

put a full workout together

So an injury is not an excuse to do nothing

it’s an opportunity to do something else

If you’re stuck, email me and I’ll help you

p.s. I got a lovely visit this week from baby

Nina, she’s 6 weeks old but there will be

more babies as 4 of my clients all had baby

girls over the past couple of months <3
